Uses
1. Plasticizers: Used in cellulose acetate, vinyl resins, nitrile rubber, and other materials to enhance flexibility and processability; suitable for applications such as films, varnishes, cellophane, and molding powders.
2. Solvents: solvents and co-solvents for coatings, inks, and adhesives; solvent for the preparation of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide; pharmaceutical extraction agent.
3. Mosquito Repellence and Daily Chemicals: Repels blood-sucking insects such as mosquitoes, sandflies, and midges (effective for approximately 2–4 hours), used in mosquito-repellent products; also serves as a fragrance fixative in cosmetics.
4. Other: gas chromatography stationary phase, solvent for toy glow sticks, and raw material for fragrance formulation.
