Detailed Introduction
PVC colored compounds are mixtures or composites, not single chemical substances; they do not have a single CAS number, molecular formula, or molecular weight. Their primary constituent is polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin.
- Appearance: Cylindrical/ellipsoidal particles with uniform color
- Color: Available in any color upon request (black, white, red, yellow, blue, green, fluorescent colors, etc.)
- Odor: Generally mild; however, an improper stabilizer/plasticizer system or excessive processing temperature may result in a pungent odor.
-Physical parameters (typical range)
Density: 1.35–1.55 g/cm³ (typically lower for soft grades and higher for hard grades; increases with greater filler content).
Hardness (Shore):
Soft: Shore A 30–95
Hardness: Shore D 50–80
Melt Flow Rate (MFR): 0.5–10 g/10 min (at 190°C under a 2.16 kg load, or as otherwise agreed; values vary significantly depending on the formulation).
Tensile strength: 10–50 MPa (higher for rigid grades, lower for flexible grades)
Elongation at break: 50–400% (higher for soft grades)
Vicat Softening Temperature: 70–90°C (higher for rigid grades, lower for flexible grades)
Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): Typically 60–85°C (strongly dependent on formulation, thickness, and test conditions).
Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI): >40% (PVC is inherently flame-retardant; the formulation can influence this)
Volume resistivity: 10¹²–10¹⁶ Ω·cm (higher for insulating grades)
- Chemical properties (overall)
Chemical resistance: stable in most acid, alkali, and salt solutions; oil resistance depends on the plasticizer/rubber-modification system.
Thermal stability: PVC itself has poor thermal stability and relies on stabilizers in the formulation (such as calcium-zinc and organotin compounds); excessive processing or service temperatures can cause decomposition and the release of HCl.
Light/Weather Resistance: Affected by stabilizers, antioxidants, UV absorbers, and pigment systems; prolonged outdoor exposure may result in fading and embrittlement.
Flammability: Self-extinguishing (extinguishes upon removal from the flame), but combustion or thermal decomposition may generate irritating or corrosive gases (such as HCl).
Migration/Oil Bleeding: Soft PVC may exhibit plasticizer migration, surface tackiness, or pigment migration (depending on the type and dosage of the plasticizer as well as its compatibility).
Uses
1. Wires and cables: insulation layers, sheaths (for data cables, power cords, electronic wires, etc.)
2. Electrical and electronic accessories: plug housings, terminals, cable trays, and sheathing assemblies (typically made of rigid or semi-rigid materials).
3. Construction and Sealing: Door and window sealing strips, hoses, waterproof strips, and floor coverings/roll materials
4. Daily Necessities and Toys: Slippers/sole covers, handle grips, inflatable toys, and stationery accessories (must comply with applicable safety and environmental requirements).
5. Automotive and Industrial Applications: Interior trim strips, sealing strips, hoses, dust boots, and washers
6. Pipe and Profile Materials: Colored Pipes, Decorative Strips, Profile Coatings, etc.
Packaging: 25 kg bag
