Product Performance and Application Overview:
This product is a colorless to slightly yellow, transparent oily liquid with a faint aromatic odor and a boiling point of 283.7°C. It is miscible with common organic solvents such as ethanol and diethyl ether, but is insoluble in water and petroleum ether. It serves as a plasticizer with strong solvency for a wide range of resins, readily dissolving cellulose resins, rubbers, and vinyl resins, and exhibiting excellent film-forming properties, adhesion, and water resistance. It is often used in combination with diethyl phthalate in the production of cellulose acetate films, varnishes, transparent papers, and molding powders. Small amounts are also employed in the manufacture of nitrocellulose. Additionally, it can be used as a plasticizer for nitrile rubber. Furthermore, this product finds applications as a solvent for mosquito-repellent oil (crude oil), polyvinyl fluoride coatings, methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, and DDT.
