Detailed Introduction
Industrial Grade Plasticizer Dioctyl Adipate (DOA) is a high-performance plasticizer designed for flexible polymer applications. It offers excellent low-temperature resistance, flexibility, and compatibility, making it suitable for PVC films, cables, synthetic leather, and other soft plastic products.
Dioctyl Adipate (DOA) provides outstanding plasticizing efficiency and helps improve the processing performance and durability of finished materials. Its stable characteristics allow products to maintain reliable flexibility and performance in different environments, meeting the needs of various industrial applications.
Produced with advanced manufacturing technology, the product follows strict quality control procedures throughout the production process. From raw material selection to final inspection, every step is carefully managed to ensure consistent quality, purity, and stable performance.
With continuous improvement in chemical technology and production methods, the product provides an effective solution for manufacturers seeking reliable plasticizer materials. Contact us to learn more about Dioctyl Adipate (DOA) and suitable plasticizer solutions for your applications.
Dioctyl adipate (DOA), with CAS No. 103-23-1, a molecular formula of C₂₂H₄₂O₄, and a molecular weight of 358.57, is a quintessential cold-resistant plasticizer. Unlike the previously mentioned DOP (general-purpose) and DOTP (environmentally friendly), DOA’s most distinctive feature is its ability to impart outstanding low-temperature performance to finished products.
- Appearance and physical properties: A colorless, transparent oily liquid with a slight characteristic odor; insoluble in water, but soluble in methanol, ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, n-butyl acetate, toluene, mineral oil, and other organic solvents.
-Physical parameters: melting point –67°C (extremely low, which underpins its cold resistance); boiling point at atmospheric pressure: 370°C; flash point (open cup): 192–210°C; density: 0.922 g/cm³ at 20°C; refractive index n₂₀/D: 1.447–1.450; viscosity: 13.7 mPa·s at 20°C (excellent flowability—more fluid than both DOP and DOTP).
- Chemical properties: Stable at room temperature, but undergoes hydrolysis under strong acidic or alkaline conditions; flammable, with the combustion producing irritating fumes; compatibility with PVC is slightly lower than that of DOP; therefore, it is generally not used alone in PVC products but is compounded with primary plasticizers such as DOP to prevent exudation. It also exhibits excellent weather resistance and electrical insulation properties.
Uses
DOA is primarily used in products that need to remain flexible in cold environments:
1. Cold-resistant plasticizer (core application):
Used in polyvinyl chloride (PVC), vinyl chloride copolymers, polystyrene, and synthetic rubbers.
Typical applications: cold-resistant films, synthetic leather, hoses, sealing strips, and wires and cables (particularly cable sheaths for use in cold regions).
2. Food packaging materials:
Due to its extremely low toxicity (as confirmed by FDA approval in the United States), it can be used in food packaging films and medical blood transfusion bags, among other applications.
3. Synthetic rubber:
It is used as a plasticizer for nitrile rubber, chloroprene rubber, and ethylene–propylene–diene monomer rubber, significantly improving the low-temperature resilience and oil resistance of these rubbers.
4. Lubricants and Additives:
Used as a lubricant for precision instruments and as an additive in lubricating oils (to improve the viscosity index).
5. Coatings and Inks:
It is used in nitrocellulose and ethyl cellulose paints to impart excellent flexibility and cold resistance to the paint film.
Packaging: 200 L iron drums or plastic drums, IBC tote tanks, and flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs).
